“We travel not to escape life but for life not to escape us.” This quote with an unknown author speaks to the beauty of wanderlust and the desire to explore the world. The ability to travel is just one of the luxuries that was put on hold during the Covid-19 situation. Here in New Orleans, we had our share of highs and lows, with many people and businesses affected. For a city that typically hosts over 18 million visitors a year, life was a lot quieter for a bit. On May 16, NOLA unveiled a phase one for reopening, so we wanted to give our future guests some information as you plan your next stay with us!
Visiting New Orleans
First of all, we want our guests to know that our inn is open and we are following the guidance of the U.S Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local authorities. You can read a full update on what we are doing for our guests and staff here. We are committed to keeping you safe and doing everything we can to ensure we keep our inn as safe as possible for our guests and staff.
We have been in phases for reopening and the city is doing its best to keep locals and visitors safe. While we all wish things could just go back to normal at the snap of a finger, we just have to be patient and follow the rules. Right now, we are still being encouraged to wear a mask or face covering while in public, maintain social distancing guidelines, keep gatherings under 100 people, and stay home if you are sick.
For guests looking forward to a getaway to NOLA, there is some good news! Retail stores, malls, restaurants, cafés, and bars with food permits are all allowed to be open to 50% capacity. In addition to this list, are salons, movie theatres, museums, zoos, and aquariums under the same guidelines. Outdoor recreation spaces, including parks, playgrounds, and sports complexes, are also open to the public while still asking people to follow social distancing guidelines. With the limited capacity, it is strongly encouraged that you make reservations at your favorite restaurants in advance. For other attractions, admission will be staggered using an online reservation system.
We don’t yet know when this phase will bring in a new one but for now, we are keeping our heads high, and taking this unprecedented situation in stride. The Canal Street Inn is now offering a Summer Special to sweeten your stay! Book 2 days on any days of the week for $310. Any room or suite is included and this special is open until September 1, 2020.
We look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones! You can book directly online and if you have any questions prior to booking or would like help planning a New Orleans getaway during this time, please contact us anytime by phone or email. Stay safe friends and we look forward to a brighter future here in the beautiful city of New Orleans!
