While we are in trying times during this season dealing with the Covid-19 situation, we are doing our best here at the Canal Street Inn to keep our spirits up. We know this too shall pass and hopefully it won’t be too long before travel is welcomed and out of town guests can come and enjoy a stay in New Orleans! If you are already planning your next trip to the beautiful Crescent City, we wanted to tell you about a fun activity to check out – a dinner jazz cruise aboard the Steamboat Natchez.
Take a trip down the Mississippi and travel like the folks of NOLA did decades ago. A cruise on the Steamboat Natchez gives you a taste of going back in time. The 19th century was a time when the United States were just starting to industrialize and the steamboat played a big role as it was the first form of engine-powered travel across water. The steamboat moved goods and people, leading to thousands of settlements along America’s rivers.
Right here in New Orleans, you can enjoy your own peaceful trip down the Mississippi on a two-hour Dinner Jazz cruise with the Steamboat Natchez. Boarding is at 6pm, at the Toulouse Street Wharf behind Jax Brewery, and you will be cruising from 7pm to 9pm. In addition to being treated to breathtaking views of the city, guests will enjoy a casual Creole-style dinner buffet and live New Orleans swing style music by the Grammy nominated “Dukes of Dixieland.” You can stroll the decks of this beautiful boat and take a tour of the engine room.
Staff on hand will share why New Orleans was founded on the beautiful crescent of the lower Mississippi River and will ensure you enjoy top notch service from beginning to end. Your cruise ends back in the French Quarter, which offers plenty of nightlife if you are not ready to end your day just yet!
*Note: In keeping with the declaration by Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards regarding containment of Covid19, the Steamboat Natchez has temporarily cancelled all cruises until May 1, 2020. They look forward to welcoming cruisers when they are able to open once again.
