Making Memories: Kick Off 2020 With New Orleans Getaway

Happy New Year folks! What an amazing ride 2019 has been—new friends made, old ones reconnected, and so many memories to cherish. We simply cannot wait for what 2020 has in store and we would love to include you! For many New Orleans is a “bucket list” destination city and if you have never taken the opportunity to visit, then we highly suggest kicking off this new year with a memorable trip to the “Crescent City!”

One of our favorite things about owning a bed and breakfast in New Orleans is playing a part in helping our guests enjoy all that this amazing city has to offer. Some of our guests return year after year for their favorite events and then others are here for the first time. Whichever camp you fall into, we want to invite you to experience NOLA in a fresh way in 2020.

NOLA Must Dos

Visit the Cornerstone of Jazz Music and Culture with a trip to Preservation Hall. Located in the heart of the historic French Quarter on St. Peter Street, Preservation Hall is a legendary venue not to miss.

Check out Bacchanal Wine, where you can taste wine from all over the world, try an original craft cocktail, hear live jazz music seven days a week, or attend one of their many events throughout the year.

Try pastry NOLA is famous for – the “beignet!” Choose between Café du Monde, the 1862 French Market coffee shop at 800 Decatur Street, or Café Beignet at 311 Bourbon Street. There is nothing like a morning cup of café au lait accompanied with a delicious beignet to start your day! Or, end your day…or enjoy in the middle of your day…they are amazing whenever you can get your hands on one!

View one of the most visited places in New Orleans; the Saint Louis Cathedral. It is officially called “The Cathedral-Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France” and is the oldest Catholic Cathedral in the United States. You can find it next to Jackson Square facing the Mississippi River. It is an absolutely stunning place and a must see while in the city.

Don’t miss a stroll through the French Quarter. Also known as the Vieux Carré, it is the oldest and most famous neighborhood in New Orleans. Here you’ll find vibrant nightlife, jazz clubs, Cajun food, local crafts, street performers and so much more. Bourbon Street is definitely the hot spot for the party and food scene but on other streets you’ll come across elegant house galleries and shows, fine dining, and the French Market to name a few.

A fantastic spot that we love nearby is The Sazerac House. Officially open just this fall, this local business takes its name from a New Orleans classic, the Sazerac cocktail. Here you will find an interactive museum, an event space, and a fully functional production facility for whiskey and bitters. Take a complimentary self-guided tour, explore the interactive cocktail exhibits and enjoy some spirit tastings! It’s a great place to spend an afternoon and easily accessible by taking the Red Line Streetcar that stops both in front of our bed and breakfast and The Sazerac.

New Orleans is for all ages and lifestyles. You can take in all of the sights and sounds or choose a more relaxing stay and enjoy the luxurious amenities our inn offers. We even have a spa room by appointment where you can be pampered in a calming, warm atmosphere.
