4th of July Fireworks and Festivities Happening in New Orleans

Below, orange and blue fireworks against a black skyFourth of July, also called Independence Day, is a holiday typically filled with family, friends, picnics, barbecues, parades, parties, fireworks, and more. While it is a day to officially celebrate the day in 1776 when the Declaration of Independence was adopted, it’s also a day to let relax and have fun! There is no bigger party than what you will find here in New Orleans and we would love to have you come and spend the holiday at our wonderful bed and breakfast in the heart of it all.

No city celebrates holidays like New Orleans so we highly encourage you to come visit for the 4th of July festivities. The highlight is of course the annual “Go Fourth on the River” extravaganza. While many cities will put on a decent fireworks show, our fabulous Crescent City puts on two at the same time! It’s a world-renown, one-of-a-kind show where two barges battle it out on the Mississippi River as they shoot off an amazing fireworks display like you’ve never seen. The barges are stationed at the foot of Canal Street and will illuminate the French Quarter waterfront, usually starting around 9pm.

If you want to catch the lights display in a special spot, we encourage you to check out the special fourth of July cruise on the paddle wheeler Creole Queen. For $129 per adult you’ll enjoy an amazing buffet dinner, live entertainment, dancing, and the best seat in the house for the evening fireworks. You’ll want to book ahead for this one as spots will fill up!

During the day we suggest strolling and bargain hunting for deals in New Orleans’ French Market. Founded in 1791, this popular destination is the oldest public market in the country. It’s an open-air mall with everything you need to enjoy a fun-filled day.

For those with a love for the best of R&B, hip-hop, and jazz, the 2018 ESSENCE Festival is another fantastic reason to come our way during the Fourth of July weekend. This premier event will be taking place July 5-8 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The lineup this year includes Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Queen Latifah, Snoop Dogg, and Fantasia to name just a few!
