The culture and heritage of New Orleans is so unique, rich, diverse, and is absolutely worth celebrating and it is the mission behind one of the most popular festivals of the year: the French Quarter Festival.
Knows as, “The Largest Showcase of showcase of Louisiana music, food and culture in the world,” the French Quarter Festival is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. This amazing festival that celebrates the culture and heritage of this unique city will be taking place April 12-15, 2018. More than 1700 local musicians making up over 300 acts will be performing on more than 20 stages throughout the city for this festival that is free to the public. You’ll be able to see some returning favorites including the Lost Bayou Ramblers, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Little Freddie King, and Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Hellraisers. There are more than 30 new acts this year as well including Zachary Richard and the Sweet Olive String Band. No matter what your musical style is, you’ll find something you’ll love as these acts represent every genre from New Orleans funk to Latin and Cabaret and traditional and contemporary jazz and R&B.
There are quite a few special events over the course of the 4-day festival including an exclusive ticketed gala at Antoine’s Restaurant, kick-off parade, free dance lessons, film festival, battle of the bands, and over 60 local restaurants participating in the “World’s Largest Jazz Brunch.” You don’t want to miss it all!
