AMENITIES AND POLICIES
CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT Check-in time is from 3:00 pm. After 6:30 pm, we will provide you with directions for self-check-in. Check out time is 11:00 am. If you are not leaving until later in the day, we will be happy to keep your luggage.
PARKING A small parking lot behind the inn is free and “first come first serve”, as there are limited spaces available. There are also free parking spots on the streets surrounding Canal Street Inn.
SPA ROOM The Canal Street Inn invites you to slow down and be pampered in a calming, warm atmosphere. This room was created to provide massage services to our guests including any Bride, who would like to have makeup or hair service for her special day, as well. These services are exclusively available to hotel guests and are by appointment only. For reservations, we will need a minimum of 2 days notice to reserve this room. Any cancellations require 3 days notice.
REFRESHMENT CENTER Complimentary snacks are available for our guests. 24-hour coffee and espresso machine, an exceptional selection of teas and our new service, an Alkaline water machine. We have two refrigerators and a microwave for guests to use where you can find bottles of water.
THE GARDEN The house is surrounded by gardens. The ancient live oak trees literally embrace the house, their branches swooping towards the ground. The lush tropical foliage is interspersed with bright colorful flowers of each season. The sunken patio is the perfect place to enjoy a good book and a glass of wine as you watch streetcars lazily amble up and down Canal Street. The Jacuzzi is available for the guest to use from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm.
BREAKFAST New Orleans is known for its wonderful, creative Southern cuisine, but due to the City of New Orleans Health and Fire enforcement code, our creativity is limited. Canal Street Inn will serve you a 3-course substantial breakfast at the main dining room table and/or in our back porch (weather permitted). Breakfast is served each morning at 8:30 am to 10:00 am. If you need breakfast before that time we will be happy to set up a light breakfast to go. If you would like a visitor to join you for breakfast, please let us know the night before. There is a $15/person charge for this service (with 24 hours notice).
SMOKING The house is smoke-free. We follow New Orleans Smoke-Free Ordinance. Ashtrays provided in the designated areas.
ADA PROPERTY FEATURES
Parking: The Canal Street Inn offers one van parking space, with and adjacent aisle for loading and unloading. This area provides a level surface, though it does not contain a curb or curb ramps for wheelchairs, walkers, etc. This parking space is located closest to the back entrance of the Inn. We are unable to provide 5 ft x 9.5 ft covered passenger pickup / drop-off areas.
Exterior Routes: There is one entry on the first floor where our handicap room is located. Our wheelchair accessible guest room may be accessed from the parking area.
Entrance: At least one door allows a minimum of 32″ clear passage for wheelchairs, walkers, etc. This entrance door is not a fully automatic door, nor does it provide outdoor key card readers. Our registration area does not allow for a lowered counter of 36” or less.
Interior Routes: Hallways and corridors are free of steps or abrupt vertical level changes over ¼ inch. Interior stairs are built so blind persons or persons with low vision cannot hit their heads on the underside of the stairs. Doorways entering accessible spaces allow a minimum of 32″ clear passage and contain hardware that is usable with one hand without tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist. We are unable to provide an elevator at the Inn. Thus no elevator braille signage, audible tones, emergency elevator communication equipment or easily open elevator doors or access ramps to the elevator are available. There are no interior ramps nor corridors with door swings of a minimum of 54″ of clear floor space.
Public Restrooms: We do not have an accessible public restroom. However, our accessible Magnolia Guest Room does have an attached accessible bathroom with a shower.
ADA Signage: There is no ADA signage available at the Inn for the guest rooms, food / vending areas, meeting rooms, public restrooms, gift shops, mechanical and electrical rooms or stairways, exits, etc.
Food Service Areas: Our food service area is not wheelchair accessible.
Please be aware that our efforts are ongoing. You may email us or call us with questions or concerns regarding ADA accessibility, including issues accessing the website or with questions regarding the accessibility and personal needs.
ROOM AMENITIES The standard rooms have an individual guest bathrobe, tv, radio, hairdryer, welcome bottled water, flat-screen tv, iron/ironing boards, organic shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. Our Suites have an individual guest bathrobe, plasma tv, Fire Stick (Netflix available), aromatherapy face pillow, K-cup machine, radio, tabletop outlet hub, hairdryer, welcome bottled water, iron/ironing boards, organic shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion.
HOUSEKEEPING Reuse and reduce! We are committed to conserving energy and water. Your bed linens will be changed every third day. We will change sooner based upon request. If you want to use your towel again, leave it on the hook. If you feel the towels need to be replaced, leave them on the floor.
CHILDREN Children over 8 years old are welcome, but please check with management when making reservations. All kids are welcome if you are renting the whole house.
PETS Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets. Service dogs are permitted. Service dogs are trained to do work or perform tasks for guests with physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other disability. A service dog may not be left on the premises alone. (ADA)
