The Canal Street Inn is the only New Orleans bed and breakfast that has been awarded the prestigious Select Registry Inns Certification. The inn is located in the historic Mid-City neighborhood on the world-famous Canal Street, in the heart of the City often referred to as “The Big Easy”, “Crescent City”, or “NOLA”.
One of the many advantages of staying in Mid-City is its convenience and accessibility to our city’s world-famous attractions and distinctive neighborhoods. Step outside our door and hop on the streetcar for a fifteen-minute ride to the famous French Quarter. Visit the many nearby attractions and destinations, including the Fairgrounds, City Park, New Orleans Museum of Art, Bayou St. John, Mercedes Superdome, renown cemeteries, Frenchmen Street, Louis Armstrong Park, Garden District, and the trendy Magazine Street. If you are here on business, we are just a short ride away from the University Medical Center, the business district, convention center, and Tulane and Loyola Universities.
At the Canal Street Inn, you can experience the refined, classical elegance of an era when graciousness and southern charm defined this neighborhood. During your stay at the inn, enjoy a stroll around our friendly neighborhood. Within a few blocks, you can mingle with local residents and become part of the community’s active street culture, by visiting the local restaurants with rich cuisines inspired by many countries around the world. The local tavern, bar, and clubs showcase unique vibes, from upscale to funky. This 1912 Greek Revival mansion is surrounded by enchanting gardens of live oaks, elms, and beautiful blooming azaleas, plus other distinctive flora and fauna throughout the year. Envision yourself relaxing and sipping a glass of wine in our beautiful garden, or on the majestic porch while you watch the streetcars roll by the oak-lined street. Inside the inn, you can observe the meticulous craftsmanship of another era in the archways, ceilings, magnificent woodwork, and stained-glass windows in the common areas of this beautiful home. Cozy up with a book on the built-in bench in the dining room. Share some wine with friends or other guests in the parlors. Entertain others by playing the piano in the front parlor – or sit back and listen while someone else plays. Every morning, you can join our other house guests in the elegant formal dining room for a gourmet breakfast served by our staff. For a less formal and more intimate breakfast with the same delicious food, sit at one of the bistro tables on the screened back porch. Then, set off for a day of fun or business in the Big Easy. When it is time for your day to end and you need a respite, the house invites you to rest, relax, and enjoy your New Orleans experience.
